Christen is an artist, entrepreneur, and filmmaker teaching in the undergraduate film department at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
After a prolific freelance career as a TV animator and editor spanning the evolution of traditional media to new media, Christen was approached by Digg.com to produce and direct a new editorial vertical of original video content. She then went on to build and lead the creative department for a growing New York City church, scaling its media operations across 5 services at 3 locations, and successfully guided its transition to virtual production at the onset of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.
Personally, her interdisciplinary approach to animation and video work is informed by a lifestyle of creative cross-training in the visual arts, music, film, dance, cultural history, teaching, and theology. |
Christen's love for New York City finds regular expression through her partnerships with community organizations. Working alongside grassroots and religious groups, she has taught and mentored the youth and young adults of New York City since 2005, including young women on Rikers Island with The LAMP (The Learning About Multimedia Project).
Currently, Christen is shaping the next generation of creative professionals as an adjunct Animation Professor at her alma mater NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, and as a visiting professor at CUNY Hostos Community College in the South Bronx.
